Emoneys blog inspired me to thinking:...
and here is my thought for yall. Do you like Pa or do you have aspirations to moving somewehre else? Some people want to move and get stuck because of family, relationships or a job, while others move for teh exact same reasons. I was just wondering what everyones thoughts and feelings were. I know I would eventually like to move to NC or somewhere warm and with a beach.

supplements
I know some of the people in are class are huge sport enthusiasts or workout pheens. Do any of you use any supplements? If so what do you use to enhance your performance? I have heard different things about creatine and other non-illegal products, just wondering what facts everybody knows.

found a new product
When doing research for our body scale project, I found a new product by Cybex. Cybex makes cardio vascular exercise equipment as well as weight lifting products. When looking for their adaptive products, I found something called the Cybex Trazer. This would've been a great product for a technology presentations. this machine has an infrared laser that reads the users heart rate, so no cheating. It is virtual reality that has aerobic exercise, hand eye coordination and tons more. The link is below.

speed/explosion
I know some of you are football coaches and some are track coaches. I was wondering what lifting and conditioing you have for your athletes. I am trying to get faster and more explosive. I have agility and foot speed for days, but I want to be redic fast. A 4.8 40 isn't good enough, I'd love to drop my 40 time along with getting stronger. If you have any knowledge, it would be EXTREMELY helpful, thank you!

mobility
I know mobility is an important part of a workout to remain flexable and other such things. I was wondering what you all might know bout mobility. What things you might do with your athletes if you coach, as well as and helpful information you might have about it.

question for you health enthusiasts...
In my undergrad, I had a lot of friends that were All-Aermicans in track. They wore titanium bracelets that are suppose to reduce your injuries as well as help with aches and pains. I noticed during the Olympics there were athletes wearing the ones that go around your neck. i was wondering if any of you use or know more information about them and how they work.

stumbled upon some stuff
i was looking online to see what football equipment is on sale or whatever and i came across the new nike sport band. i don;t know how many of you are running enthusiasts or not, but this thing looks fantastic. Its like a watch that works similiar to the Nike+ running shoe. It's a USB connector that chargers and transfers your data. It keeps track of how you run, how far, calories burned and other stuff as well. Looks pretty awesome and small. Didn't know if any of you have seen it already or not, but wondering your thoughts. Below is a link about it.

some recent thoughts of my future
So, some recent thoughts about my future has had me starting to question, plan, and brain storm ideas. I was thinking about my goals with creating a camp and opportunity for girls to learn the game of football, and to get them interested, so maybe one day they can compete against other girls or women. This got me to start thinking about what else I want to do with my life, which is hopefully and eventually be a collgiate strength and conditioing coach as well as a personal trainer. Taking this information, I think it would be absolutely fantastic to start creating sessions for 7 grade and up girls to get better with their specific sport by creating a strength and conditioing program. To do month long sessions that would incorporate sport specific skill, sport specfic conditioing, as well as sport specfic lifting. It's a long shot because I obviously don;t have the financial nor the facilities to put together something on that level, but I got real jacked thinking about the possibility to one day be a part of and effect that many different individuals athletic careers.

some people were asking/looking....
I've seen a few posts about some plyometric workouts. I offered to to email them, but I know we are all too busy to try rememeber to email someone or to look them up, so now you don;t have to =) Below is some plyo's that I put together for my girls. I also have a plyo circuit that we did once a week. Enjoy.
Plyometrics
Medicine ball squats- squeeze ball to chest, jump straight up, tuck knees to ball/chest. Start and land in a squat position.
Squat Jumps- With hands behind the head, start in a squat position, explode up and land in a squat position.
Split Squat Jumps- With hands behind the head, start in a squat position, explode up and split the legs, land in a lunge position, and explode up again switching the split leg position.
Hurdles:
Lateral jumps- Two feet jump laterally, over the hurdles
Front to back- Two feet jumps quickly jump front to back over the hurdles. Make sure to not double hop
Two hurdle single feet- Start by straddling one hurdle. The foot in between the two hurdles will lead. Doing high knees, do single foot quick touches laterally.
Box Jumps:
“Offense Jump”- two feet jumps, laterally, straight over the box. Go both sides.
“Defense Jump”- two feet jumps, laterally, with quick one touch on top of box (No double bounce or jumping when on top of box). Go both sides.
Combine Offense/Defense Jumps- two feet, laterally, quick one touch over box, quick one touch over the same box back, no touch back over box forward, proceed to next box.
Standing Spread box jump- Legs spread over the middle of the box, one foot on each side of the box. Start in a squat position. At the same time, jump and bring both feet to the top of the box, quick touch on the top of the box, and quick touch off the ground. Do 5 jumps, and hold the squat position for 5 seconds. Repeat 2 more times, 15 jumps total.
Drop-off box jump- Start standing, both feet, on the box. Step down from the top of the box and quickly explode back onto the top of the box. Switch feet you are stepping off of the box in order to work both legs.
Jump-Off Box Jump- With a medicine ball, start standing on top of the box, legs shoulder width apart. Drop off of box with medicine ball between your legs. Land in a squat position, slowly rise-up legs into a standing position, pull medicine ball from between the legs up over the head in sync with legs.
Calf/Ankle Strengthening- Standing on a box, balance on one foot on the “ball of your feet”. After doing one foot, switch to the other.
Free-Throw Lane/Line Jump Circuit- Start with two feet jumps, side to side, follow up the lane line, across free throw line, backwards down the lane line, and then across the baseline. Switch directions repeating with two feet. Next, starting with the right foot, one foot jumps side to side up the lane line and across the free throw line. Once reaching the next lane line, switch to your left foot, single foot jumps side to side backwards down the lane line and then across the baseline.

Just to release some frustration...
So, sadly, I'm a HUGE Michigan fan. this year has been brutel. So, it got me thinking to create a post. Here's my question, how do you think teams that are playing at high levels drop to levels that cause them to lose to other teams? Do you think it's that the talent is wide spread now? Could it be a lack of consentration or chking? Or do you think is mental?

need some help
I need some resistance training workouts. But more importantly, I need workouts that are improvised. Meaning, you have ideas based upon a small budget or facilities. For those of you working with small budgets or faciilities, I have a friend that is the Strength and conditioing coach at Robert Morris, he gave me this website: www.dieselcrew.com They have a ton of videos and workouts, a lot of them are improvised. also, they have a forum where people can post their workouts.

Quick question/thought
For my practicum, I will be putting together a skills camp based around football for girls ages 1-8 grade. Eventually, I would like to run a yearly camp as well as speak to young girls in the local schools through the Passion. My question for the P.E. teachers is the demand fo this camp. If I were to do this camp, how many kid's do you know would be interested?

Nutrition tips
Although I am really big into working out, I am constantly trying to educated myself on the nutrition to go along with it. I know somethings for example, I know what I shouldn't and should be eating, I know my BMR things of that nature. But I really would like to get the most out of my workouts, and I know that your diet affects most of that. I have gone to www.mypyramid.gov to try and keep track because I don't think I eat enough for the amount nor the intensity that I workout, but I was just wondering other peoples hints or tips that they do.

quick question/thought
Since most of the people checking this blog are PE teachers, what way do you find your students retain and learn the information the best? Visual? Hands on? I'm interested in seeing if it is wide spread and different for ages, genders etc.

Bike intervals...
I'm looking for anyone that has any ideas for bike workouts/intervals. I know some of you try to integrate different aspects of cardio or physical activity. within a classroom setting, but I was hoping to find a new idea maybe with your kids that I can make changes on for my players or workouts you might do yourself.

Showing life lessons through sport....
Do you think that kids learn life lessons through sport? If so, what types of life lessons do you think they learn? I have heard many past employers tell me that the fact I have played on athletic teams made it that much more of a bonus to hire me because of my knowledge of roles, work ethic as well as team unity.

Traditional vs. Functional training
I am interested what ya'll think is more beneficial training wise. I know every body has different goals that they are trying to achieve but 1. I LOVE hearing/finding out new workouts or new ideas for the change of monotony in workouts. 2. I love seeing how people meet their goals. Some people are big into heavy weights and traditional training, while others use light weights and more functional lifting for everyday situations. So, there's my thought and just wondering where ya'll are at as well.
Motivation......what's ushing you?
You either workout religiously, workout every now and then, or never set foot in a gym. What do you think motivates people to want to workout?
